Which is the best Canon camera to purchase?

lilajangelgrl asked:

My first camera was the Canon SD350 in 2004 and it accidently dropped into the ocean in 2006. I then bought my second camera, which was the Canon SD600. I've used the camera for a litte more than a year and it recently broke. The lens of the camera won't go back in and is stuck. I've tried resetting and even took it to the place to get it fixed, but they said I need a new motor. The motor costed $150 to fix, so I preferred to purchase a new camera. I'm scared to buy another Canon camera because of all the bad incidents that happened with my Canon camera, but I do love how the Canon camera looks and works. I am so used to the Canon camera that I don't really want to change, unless I know it is better. So what new camera should I buy now? Thank you for helping me ahead of time and I hope my new camera will last at least 5 years. I do not wish to continuously purchase cameras.

Depends on what your purpose is. Canon has some really high end expensive cameras for professionals, but some exceptionally nice and affordable cameras for everyday consumers. Like you, I really like Canon also. For an average user, the Rebel is a super SLR…and affordable at about $700. However, if you want a nice point and click…simple design, but with some nice features, the A650 is a super camera with image stabilization for about $350. You won't go wrong with Canon. The optics are exceptional.

Look for a Canon service centre before a new camera. Perhaps that would help both u and canon to be good to each other. Secondly, Try Powershot series. or else log on to canon website (hopefull canon .com)

The Canon SD800 (wider angle lens) or SD850 if you want to stay thin with next one. Great reviews from reliable web sites.
The price is $250-300, but that's what best in class gets you.

Also, thin cameras are more likely to have motor problems because manufacturers try to squeeze more gadgets into less space (see cell phones).

I'm still happily using my Canon PowerShot S30 (a midrange level camera with lots of manual and automatic features) I bought in 2002. It's not thin, but it's not bulky, either.

If you do not want to waste money to useless 12 mega pixels, do not look at some newest gadgets such as Canon A650, G9 or SD950. There is an excellent and not expensive compact — the Canon A630 ($270), ultra compact — the Canon SD850 ($250) and 10-x zoom — the Canon SX100 ($280). For more details about digital cameras choosing be my guest at :http://fototramp.blogspot.com/2007/11/compare-digital-compact-cameras-from.html
For more about SLR-like cameras look through:
However, it's not bad to pay your attention to the Fujifilm F40. This is a really great Compact with a large !/1.6 inch sensor and very good imagr quality for under $200. For more look through:

I LOVE my Canon Powershot SD 1000
My brother and me both have this camera. It is easy to use, takes nice pictures, and has lots of different effects ( well the one I use is digital Macro).
I might not reccomend it for a photographer, they may want something more expensive with a higher lens zoom. But if you just want a good camera for special occasions or just every day, this a a great camera!
Mine was a little less then 200 dollars and has 7.1 megapixels.
