Vivitar digital camera - computer not picking it up on USB?
Ok I am trying to install my Vivitar 4100 digital camera. I have the camera, new batteries, the USB pluggie, and the disc to install the photo software.
however when I plug in the USB cord and then plug in the camera and turn it on, nothing happens.
"devices with removeable storage" section or whatever has the floppy and CD/DVD but not my camera. then the "cameras and scanners" has a digital camera but it's not mine…
>.<
I am confused, there is no info regarding this in the manual.
i had this camera installed on a different computer, and when i'd turn my camera on after plugging it in, it would pop up on the screen, that my camera was detected. now it's not doing that.

Couple of possible solution, but since i'm not there I can't be 100% (there in no particular order, try three first and then try them however you want)
1 - unplug the camera and install the software first then plug it back in.
2- Have it on then plug it in and maybe it will recognize it.
3- Plug it in and then check under my computer. It may be there. Sometimes it doesn't always pop up the window you are referring to, so check manually if its there by going to my computer. (im sure you know how to do this but just in case: click start > click my computer {usually toward the left of the start menu})
4 - Lastly, You mention its a new/different computer, is it windows vista by any chance? the camera may not be vista compatible.
Good luck and I hope one of these works for you
