Picasa, enough for picture editing?

Frank G asked:

while considering of buying Acdsee for viewing and edit my pictures.
I heard Google Picasa on this site.
Is it 100% free to download and will never expire?
Do you think it's a decent photo software compared with Acdsee and Photo shop?
Other features about Picasa?
Any comment, welcome.

In my opinion, nothing can beat photoshop, but considering it is free, you can get it if you want to. The question of enough or not is really subjective, depending on one's opinion. For example, the tools given in a certain software, are they able to match your expertise?

Im no pro but I think its all to do with what you want to do with your photos. I have Picasa2 and find it very useful. I like its auto adjustments and its sharpening tool. Its free. I also use The GIMP2 for slightly more advanced photo manipulation. It is free. I could not see myself parting with hundreds of dollars for Photoshop CS2 or even $90 for Photoshop Elements. The really big pro's will probably go for Photoshop CS2 because it is top notch but they are also relatively rich. Another good freebie is Picture it!7. It removes dust/noise very nicely I have found.

Picasa is much better than Acdsee, while Acdsee charges you about 60 dollars, and Picasa is 100% free.

I' always recommend people around me , using Picasa for organizing and editing pictures on computers.

100% free, easy to use.

Search and organize pictures on computers.

Crop resize, editing pictures just by serveral clicks

Burn pictures into CD or DVDs.

Picture Slideshow Also.

Hope it helps.
