Digital Camera Works Like Jump Drive?
smartdudeforlife asked:
I connected my digital camera to my laptop today to upload some pictures, it's also a video recorder and a mp3 recorder. My jumo drive recently got busted so I thought to myself "why not try putting files on the camera?" So I did and it seems to accept my text files and such but if I were to try and move it to another computer would the camera corrupt the files or would me putting the files on the camera bad for the camera?

I realize some people use their IPODs as file managers, could the same work for a digital camera?
Quick question! If my camera says it accepts mp3s and records sound, coudl I upload mp3s on it and listen to them?

As long as your computer sees the camera's memory card as a mass storage device, nothing prevents you from moving and storing files on the memory card.
As to whether your camera could play back MP3 files, it would depend upon the camera.
For example, my cell phone is a Treo and it is capable of taking (poor quality) digital photos, using a Secure Digital card for storage. It will also play back MP3s and WMV music files, which I have placed on the memory card from my computer.
In any case, jump drives are viewed as removeable storage by Windows and use the mass storage driver. If your camera is also viewed as removeable storage, you can get away with using it in the way you suggest.

Seems like a gig flash drive would be a better option.
